Code of Conduct for College Students Travelling by Coach 

Seaxes Travel is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive transport environment. This Code of Conduct supports UK safeguarding principles and college behaviour policies and applies to all students travelling on Seaxes Travel coaches as part of a college or educational activity. 

By travelling you are accepting this code of conduct. 

 

  1. Safeguarding and Duty of Care
  • Seaxes Travel operates in accordance with UK safeguarding legislation and best practice. 
  • Students must conduct themselves in a manner that does not place themselves or others at risk of harm. 
  • Any behaviour that compromises the safety, dignity, or wellbeing of passengers, staff, or drivers will be treated as a safeguarding concern. 
  • Safeguarding concerns may be reported to college safeguarding leads or relevant authorities where appropriate. 

 

  1. Behaviour and Conduct
  • Students are expected to follow their college’s Student Behaviour Policy while travelling. 
  • Respectful, calm, and cooperative behaviour is required at all times. 
  • Harassment, bullying, threatening behaviour, discrimination, or abusive language (including sexual, racial, homophobic, or ableist behaviour) will not be tolerated. 
  • Instructions given by the driver, Seaxes Travel staff, or accompanying college staff must be followed immediately. 

 

  1. Health and Safety
  • Students must remain seated while the coach is in motion and wear seatbelts where fitted. 
  • Aisles, emergency exits, and safety equipment must remain unobstructed. 
  • Misuse or interference with safety equipment or emergency exits is a serious breach of conduct. 
  • Any accidents, injuries, sickness or safety concerns must be reported immediately to the driver or accompanying staff. 

 

  1. Alcohol, Drugs, and Prohibited Items
  • The possession, use, or influence of alcohol, illegal substances, or psychoactive substances is strictly prohibited. 
  • Smoking, vaping, or the use of e-cigarettes is not permitted on the coach. 
  • Any prohibited items may be confiscated and reported in line with college safeguarding procedures.
     
  1. Respect for Property and Environment
  • Students must treat the coach and its facilities with care. 
  • Vandalism, graffiti, or deliberate damage will be reported and may result in financial liability for repairs. 
  • Students are expected to dispose of litter responsibly the coach should be left clean and tidy for the next users. 

 

  1. Use of Electronic Devices
  • Mobile phones and personal devices may be used responsibly. 
  • Headphones must be used for music, videos, or games. 
  • The recording or photographing of other passengers or staff without consent is not permitted and may constitute a safeguarding or data protection concern. 

  1. Boarding, Travel, and Supervision
  • Students should arrive to the bus stop 5 to 10 mins prior to travel to give time to register and put seat belts on before departure. 
  • For access a QR code is required however you will be given admittance if there is an issue, you will then be required to share your name with the driver this issue will be reported to the college.  
  • Please do not delay the driver in discussion on entry and delay the schedule. 
  • Students must board and exit the coach in an orderly and safe manner. 
  • Students must not leave the coach at unscheduled stops unless directed by college staff or the driver in an emergency. 
  • Students are expected to remain within designated seating areas unless otherwise instructed. No standing is permitted whilst the vehicle is in motion. 
  • Students must comply with any supervision arrangements implemented by the college from time to time. 
  1. Consequences of Misconduct

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in: 

  • Being reported to college staff 
  • Removal from the coach at a safe location 
  • Exclusion from future Seaxes Travel services 
  • Financial responsibility for any damage caused 
  • Further disciplinary action by the college or relevant authorities 
  1. Responsibility

Seaxes Travel accepts no responsibility for personal belongings left unattended. Students are responsible for their own property at all times.
